Significance
A more exclusive and higher performance version of Aston Martin’s biggest standard production coupe (the DB11), the DBS Superleggera offers massive performance in a visually stunning package that embodies the traditional Aston Martin values of classic good looks, luxurious finishes, and dynamic athleticism. Compared to the DB11 on which it’s based, the DBS Superleggera is reportedly nearly 200 pounds lighter thanks to more extensive use of carbon fiber and an optional titanium exhaust system. Coupled with a power increase of 85hp (for a stonking 715hp) and a shorter rear end ratio, the result is a car that absolutely flies. Despite this, it’s incredibly well-trimmed, and is an effortless way to cover distance in the classic GT tradition, an impression that is reinforced by its classic front-engined rear wheel drive layout.
In February 2019, Aston Martin announced that it would produce 50 examples of the Tag Heuer edition, which is finished in Monaco black (metallic black) with red accents (such as brake calipers and on the tires) and extensive carbon fiber trim including the entire roof, which is optional in carbon fiber on the standard DBS. Inside the car, black leather with red accents, including embroidered Tag Heuer logos distinguish the car, as does quilted detailing. The car comes with a special Tag Heuer Carrera whose leather band is trimmed in black leather with red accents to match the car’s upholstery.
