Significance

When the second generation GT3 debuted in February 2006, it took Porsche’s track-focused road car from something only purchased by the most die-hard enthusiasts and turned it into one of the most desirable models in the brand’s lineup. This variant built off the 997 chassis had the updated body style that was immediately a classic and remains one of the most coveted in the history of the 911. With a unique front fascia and large fixed rear wing, the 997 GT3 featured what Porsche referred to as “Zero Lift” aerodynamics- intimating that the car creates only downforce to keep the car stuck to the road at speed. Additionally, it was the first GT3 that was fitted with Porsche’s new PASM active suspension system, which meant that it was not only better on track, but much more comfortable to use on the road.

About this vehicle

This 2007 GT3 is a stunning example that shows just 21,986 miles and is finished in non-metallic black paint. Built on a narrow-body 911, the 997 GT3 is regarded by many as the final GT3 that can truly be exploited on many back roads thanks to its narrower track. From the factory, this car was equipped with a number of desirable options that totaled more than $30,000 in extras at the time. This includes the coveted Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes that made up for $8,840 of those options and fitted the car with brakes that offer nearly fade-free performance and the desirable yellow calipers sitting behind the wheels. Additionally, Bi-Xenon headlights up front offer beautiful clear vision at night and mean you can enjoy backroad driving, even when the sun is setting. The interior of this GT3 is fitted with Natural Dark Gray leather and Alcantara that is accented with yellow deviated stitching throughout. Fitted with power-adjustable sport seats, this GT3 is perfect for the enthusiast who wants to use their car more frequently and doesn’t want to have to put up with climbing in and out of Porsche’s more extreme hardback bucket seats. Interior carbon fiber has been fitted on the center console, shifter, and hand brake lever- this is a great-looking option and adds more sporting visuals to the interior. Much of the money spent on options in this car was on extended leather, which covers the glove box, wraps onto the dashboard, and sits on the top of the door cards. Powering this GT3 is a 3.6-liter Mezger Flat-6 rated from the factory at 409 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. The Mezger engine is well known for its durability and racing lineage, tracing its design back to the engine found in the 1998 LeMans winning GT1 race car. Connected to a mandatory 6-speed manual gearbox, this car was capable of 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds and a top speed in excess of 190 mph. During the 997 GT3 run, this engine grew from 3.6 to 3.8 and finally to 4.0 liters, but many enthusiasts cite the 3.6-liter unit as the one that revs the best and offers the most visceral racecar-like feeling. In the never-ending pursuit of track performance, the GT3 has become faster, grippier, and more aerodynamic, but for the driving enthusiast, not necessarily better. The 997.1 GT3 is a sweet spot that strikes a perfect balance of size, power, and handling, which makes it one of the most fun road cars Porsche has ever produced.

Is there a clutch/Rotor measurements available? I see this is an open auction, when does it close, when the owner accepts a bid? Also there are 12k more miles on the care than the carfax, has any other service been completed on the car since what is showing in the report? I’m new to the site.

    K

    Kevin Chen

    ISSIMI Advisor

We do not separate the transmission to measure the clutch in our inspection. However, the car has been road tested and clutch operates as it should.

The rotors are inspected for cracks, which there are none. As they are ceramic rotors they last much longer than steel rotors.

Service records are uploaded in the Misc section of the gallery.

The live auction starts when the owner accepts one of the bids. We encourage you to place one if you are interested.

Does the car have maintenance service records to review? Is the window sticker available. I noticed (9) overrevs reported. How does the car start? any smoke or hesitation? DOes the idle sound stable without any abnormal ticking or sluggishness?
    Any disclosed repainted sections?

    C

    Charlie Miles

    ISSIMI Advisor

The car has maintenance records and window sticker and we will be able to add to the listing for your review. No issues on start-up or any smoke and idle sounds normal. The passenger side door does have higher paint meter readings than the rest of the car although we have no details regarding why or when it could have had paintwork.

DME Report? Paint Readings? Any PPF?

    K

    Kevin Chen

    ISSIMI Advisor

We are uploading the DME report to the Inspection report. The passenger side door has higher readings than the rest of the car. The car has PPF on the front bumper and half hood.
